Migration of a DirectAdmin server with 600+ online domains

We've recently completed a migration of a DirectAdmin server with 600+ online domains. A happy customer received a migration done with a zero down-time.

It goes without saying an every server migration is a subject for a good preparation work. And a final result will much depend on how well is it done.

◾ First, we make sure to install an identical set of software and settings.

◾ Then we clone user accounts from a source to a target server.

◾ And after that we sync data between servers.

Servers might have terabytes of data nowadays, and a transmission of all user data might take a while. This is a good time to check DNS settings and make sure once again all records are actual.

As soon as all data is copied, we do a final synchronization and update DNS records and/or move IPs. If domain IPs change, it might be a good idea to forward traffic from the old IP to a new one while DNS changes propagate all over the world.

These are minimal required actions.
